Protecting your privacy
Auswest Finance is committed to providing you with the highest levels of customer service. This includes protecting your privacy. From 21 December 2001, we have been bound by new sections of the Privacy Act 1988.
Following is the information that the Privacy Act requires us to communicate to our customers, in order to understand your privacy rights as well as Auswest Finance general rights and obligations, we recommend that you read this document explains the types of personal information we keep about you and how we may use and disclose this iinformation.
Your personal information
Personal Information held by Auswest Finance may include your name, trading name, current and previous addresses, telephone/mobile phone number, e-mail address, bank account or credit card details, and Insurance policy number.
If you choose not to provide personal information, we may not be able to provide you with the services you require, or level of services in which we pride ourselves.
How we collect personal information
Auswest Finance collects personal information in a number of ways including:
- directly from you, when you provide information by phone or in documents such as an application form;
- from Third Party organisations identified below under "when we disclose your personal information".
How we use your personal information
Your personal information may be used in order to:
- Provide the services you require to fulfil your contract obligations to us;
- Administer and manage those services, including charging;
- Receipting funds from you;
- Inform you the ways the services provided to you could be improved;
- Conduct appropriate checks for credit-worthiness and for fraud;
- Research and develop our services (by statistical analysis of personal information).
When we disclose your personal information
We may disclose your personal information to other organisations. The organisations to which we disclose information include:
- Credit providers for credit related purposes such as credit worthiness and credit rating;
- Government and regulatory as required or authorised by law;
- Our accountants, auditors, solicitors and collection agencies;
- Your representatives (eg your authorised Agents, Brokers, Insurance Companies or Legal advisors).
Help us to ensure we hold accurate information
Austwest Finance takes all responsible precautions to ensure that the personal information we collect, use and disclose is accurate, complete and up to date. However, the accuracy of that information depends to a large extent on the information you provide. That's why we recommend that you:
- Let us know if there are any errors in your personal information;
- and keep us up to date with changes to personal information on your Auswest Finance contracts.
You can access your personal information
You have a right to access your personal information, subject to some exceptions allowed by law. If you would like to access this information, please contact us.
Security of your personal information
Personal information may be stored in hardcopy documents, as electronic data, in software or in systems. We endeavour to protect personal information that we hold from misuse and loss, and to protect it from unauthorised access, modification and disclosure. We also require this of those we disclose information to.
How to contact us
If you wish to gain access to your personal information, opt out, have a complaint about a breach of your privacy, or have any query relating to our Privacy Policy or practises, please contact us. We will respond to your request and try to resolve it as soon as reasonably practicable.
